Community Leader

George led the effort to create the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation in 1993 and chaired the Foundation’s Board in its formative years. Prior to that he was a partner with law firms in San Francisco and Hong Kong and a reporter/producer with the Center for Investigative Reporting, Inc. He subsequently worked as a legal and rules adviser for America’s Cup yacht racing teams in Auckland and Valencia.

Now retired, George is a member of the Greater Farallones and Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuaries Advisory Councils, a director of Investigative Studios (a non-profit associated with the UC Graduate School of Journalism), an Associate Director of the Marin Resource Conservation District and a board member of the East Shore Planning Group in Marshall, where he and his wife Sheri have a home.
