That’s why we opened our doors in 1993, inspired by the valiant efforts of ZSFG caregivers, and driven by a purpose to provide support for public health wherever it’s needed—in the lab, the clinic, and the community.

For nearly thirty years, the partnership between the Foundation and ZSFG has reflected the spirit and values that define San Francisco. Equity. Compassion. Respect. And a commitment to care for everyone in our city, including the most vulnerable.

About our city’s public hospital.

Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center is a public community hospital and the only Level 1 trauma center in San Francisco and northern San Mateo counties. Dedicated to improving the health and wellness of our entire community, ZSFG provides world-class care for all the people of San Francisco, regardless of ability to pay or immigration status.

With a nearly 150-year history of caring for our city, the Foundation has always proudly supported innovative and compassionate public health at ZSFG. Through the Heart of our City Campaign, the Foundation raised $143 million to fund key projects for the state-of-the-art hospital and level-1 trauma center we rely upon today.
