Flourish
Ari Takata-Vasquez
Ari is driven by a deep passion for creatives and her community. Founder of the brand and brick-and-mortar shop Viscera, Ari strives to enrich Oakland’s entrepreneurial landscape by supporting makers, designers, and artists. She carefully sources well-made, ethical products that help consumers connect with the process and stories behind the products they purchase. Founded in 2014, Viscera has been featured in the SF Chronicle, Racked, 7×7, Oakland magazine, and more. When she isn’t running her business or studio, she is an artist creating murals across the Bay. Additionally, she grows capacity at the individual and organizational level as a speaker, teacher, and Executive Director of the Oakland Indie Alliance.
Hearts in San Francisco Project
The Hearts in San Francisco project debuted in 2004 with 131 heart sculptures, created by local Bay Area artists and auctioned by the Foundation in support of Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.
The Foundation raised nearly 3 million dollars for ZSFG in that first year. Today, we carry on this tradition by commissioning and auctioning a new set of hearts each year. The funds raised support those delivering on the promise of accessible and equitable health care for all in our city.
