Taiko Fujimura

Taiko Fujimura is a mixed-media artist based in San Francisco who is focused on painting with watercolor, ink, acrylic, and oil on a variety of surfaces. Taiko’s work is strongly influenced by Japanese wabi-sabi and Japanese calligraphy, which she has studied since the age of six. Between 1999 and 2001, she studied fine arts at the San Francisco Art Institute and graphic design at the California College of the Arts with scholarships and awards. She also painted a large heart for the Grand Foundation in Tracy, CA, in 2021. For the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, she successfully completed painting three mini-hearts and one table-top heart for the 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023 series.

Hearts in San Francisco Project

The Hearts in San Francisco project debuted in 2004 with 131 heart sculptures, created by local Bay Area artists and auctioned by the Foundation in support of Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center.

The Foundation raised nearly 3 million dollars for ZSFG in that first year. Today, we carry on this tradition by commissioning and auctioning a new set of hearts each year. The funds raised support those delivering on the promise of accessible and equitable health care for all in our city.
