Because of you, Zuckerberg San Francisco General was prepared for the unforeseen. The new hospital building that you helped build and outfit was ready to answer the call during the COVID pandemic. Its modern ICU was ready for overflow patients and to serve the community that got hit the hardest. ZSFG was able to be an epicenter for care, treatment, and vaccinations. Your support helped to realize the promise of public health care.
Social medicine protocols ensured the hospital staff saw more than just symptoms of a disease. ZSFG connected patients to other non-medical care to help with the healing process and wellness. It partnered with community groups to promote vaccines and helped bolster education about COVID with top experts in the field.
Your support enabled the Foundation to lend critical support with a COVID fund that quickly addressed needs for staff comfort, provided personal protective equipment, increased chaplain hours for spiritual support, and facilitated a pop-up testing and vaccination site.
