As a nurse in the Endoscopy Unit, Kathleen spends her days providing the safest and highest quality care to patients, ensuring they have a positive treatment experience. She also works as the educator of the unit, making sure all of the educational needs of the staff are met when new workflows and policies are introduced.
Kathleen shares one of her favorite aspects of nursing in the Endoscopy Unit is the ability to work one-on-one with patients and have the time to establish strong rapport with them.
“Being able to connect with patients and getting to know a little bit about their background is very special,” says Kathleen.
As San Francisco’s only public hospital, ZSFG provides care to some of the most vulnerable individuals in the city. In this regard, Kathleen highlights the Hospital’s goal of providing equitable care for all. Health is wealth, she says.
“Working in healthcare, I know how important it is to maintain our own health,” says Kathleen. “But being able to provide that to others in San Francisco is as equally important.”
Kathleen also adds that she finds great meaning in the teamwork she experiences every day at work. From day-to-day operations to emergency situations, she has full confidence that everyone will come together and support one another. To her, this is what makes ZSFG a great place to be.
