As is common for nurses, Annie plays many different roles. In the Labor and Delivery Unit, that means a typical day for her includes caring for postpartum mothers, helping during active labor, or managing the team as charge nurse.
“I love connecting with patients and being an ally for whatever their needs are,” says Annie.
Annie feels that it is a true honor to be with mothers, babies, and their families, from delivery to postpartum care. She is proud to provide this care at ZSFG, a hospital she notes is at the forefront of treating all patients. ZSFG was at the first baby friendly hospital in San Francisco and is ahead of the treatment curve for patients with substance use disorders.
“Every human deserves to be treated fairly and equally and receive the care that they need,” says Annie. “They are a part of our community just as anybody else, and they deserve the same good quality care as anybody else.”
Annie also highlights the strong relationships built not only between patient and provider, but within the healthcare team itself. Nurses, doctors, pharmacy techs, and everyone in between come together every day to treat people equally, and meet patient needs wherever they can.
