If you or a loved one suffer a traumatic injury such as a slip and fall, car or bicycle accident, or in the event or a natural or man-made disaster such as an earthquake or plane crash, Zuckerberg San Francisco General is where you will be brought as it is the City’s only Trauma Center (Level 1).

The care provided by Zuckerberg San Francisco General helps prevent small health concerns from becoming more serious in the community. As the City’s safety net, Zuckerberg San Francisco General has its doors open to anyone in need, regardless of ability to pay.

Research conducted at Zuckerberg San Francisco General provides local & global benefits

Zuckerberg San Francisco General houses more than 20 UCSF research centers, affiliated institutes, and major laboratories on its campus that conduct more than $150mm in research annually, allowing the hospital to bring cutting edge findings from bench to bedside quickly. Zuckerberg San Francisco General’s world-renowned center of HIV research that has impacted patients around the globe and The Institute for Global Orthopedics is dedicated to developing sustainable education and research programs in the developing world.

The General trains the next generation of doctors

All physician care at Zuckerberg San Francisco General is provided by UCSF physicians through a partnership that is over 100 years old. Students and residents from all four UCSF graduate schools –medicine, nursing, dentistry and pharmacy – spend 1/3 of their time training at Zuckerberg San Francisco General. Zuckerberg San Francisco General provides a valuable training ground, serving diverse patients with some of the city’s most complex and chronic problems.

For every $1 invested in the Foundation, we are able to raise $7.50 to directly support programs at Zuckerberg San Francisco General.
