San Francisco General Hospital Foundation celebrated the unveiling of the latest installation of the Hearts in San Francisco sculpture campaign. The newest Heart—titled SŌL and designed by local artist Dev Heyrana—was added to the corner of Powell and Geary streets in Union Square.
The event kicked off outreach for the 2026 Hearts in SF Gala – the Foundation’s annual fundraiser that raises funds to support health equity and innovation at the city’s only public hospital, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG). Marisa Rodriguez, CEO of the Union Square Alliance, will chair this year’s gala, bringing awareness to the compassionate, life-saving care happening every day at ZSFG.
"Every Heart sculpture tells the story of San Francisco's compassionate spirit—where art meets healing, and the community comes together to ensure no one faces a health crisis alone." Kim Meredith, CEO of the Foundation
The new heart-shaped sculpture SŌL joins three other such sculptures in Union Square, which has been home to the Hearts in San Francisco sculptures since the project’s inception over 20 years ago.
Kim Meredith, SFGH Foundation CEO, and Dr. Susan Ehrlich, ZSFG CEO, were joined by Union Square Alliance CEO Marisa Rodriguez, State Senator Scott Wiener, Supervisor Danny Sauter, and Ned Segal, Chief of Housing and Economic Development for the City and County of San Francisco in welcoming SŌL to Union Square.
