The Foundation unveiled a special new Hearts in San Francisco sculpture at The Chan National Queer Arts Center. “VASU: Vibrance Within” by Amaura Arts is a visual representation of The Chan Center’s values: celebrating artistic expression and community.  

A symbol of our shared commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community, this latest Community Hearts loan reflects the deep-rooted connection between culture, community well-being, and public health here in San Francisco.

For more than 20 years, Hearts in San Francisco has made a home for itself in every nook of San Francisco. Each of these iconic sculptures is a symbol of our city’s support for the innovative, compassionate care provided to over 100,000 of our neighbors each year at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG). 

We were honored to be joined by so many members of our community at the unveiling including Foundation CEO Kim Meredith, ZSFG CEO Dr. Susan Ehrlich, Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, and San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus Artistic Director Jacob Stensberg.

Together, we delved into the deep history between ZSFG and the LGBTQIA+ community, highlighting the Hospital’s critical role during the HIV/AIDs pandemic and the continued care still provided today. CEO Kim Meredith also spoke on the Foundation’s critical role in ZSFG operations as an organization dedicated to advancing equity and innovation in healthcare.
