On February 12, the Foundation hosted its annual Hearts in SF gala, a celebration of our city’s outstanding public hospital, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. Community support was out in full force, showing us just how beloved our city’s healthcare heroes truly are.

The night featured heartfelt speeches from Foundation CEO Kim Meredith, ZSFG CEO Dr. Susan Ehrlich, Mayor Daniel Lurie, and Director of Department of Public Health Daniel Tsai, who all spoke on the essential role ZSFG plays in San Francisco to keep our city healthy and strong.

The event was further elevated with the support of Marisa Rodriguez, who served as the 2026 Hearts in SF Chair and Simone Lee Balch, SFGHF Board Member and Hearts in SF Corporate Chair. Their partnership helped to make this night possible, and reinforced the strong community ties that enable ZSFG to thrive.

The Foundation was additionally excited to celebrate our three Hero & Heart awardees: Kelly Brandon, MSN, RNC, CNS, and ZSFG Clinical Nurse Specialist and Co-Founder of the Addiction Care Team Nurse Liaison Program; Melissa Pitts, RN, BSN, and ZSFG Emergency Department Administrator on Duty; and Pamela Dorsey, ZSFG heart transplant recipient. Embodying progress in health care, these three individuals remind us of the power of seeing humanity in each other.

This year, the Foundation also celebrated a partner in caring for those most in need in San Francisco, the San Francisco Free Clinic. For more than 20 years, Dr. Patricia Gibbs and Dr. Richard Gibbs have opened their doors to those most in need, offering not only vital medical care but also a model of equity, generosity, and respect that has inspired our community.

Thank you, San Francisco, for joining us on our mission to ensure every member of our community has easy access to exceptional health care at ZSFG.
