Today, the Foundation was saddened to learn of the passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein. A trailblazer and fierce advocate, Senator Feinstein represented the people of San Francisco for over fifty years.

A San Francisco native, Senator Feinstein showed her unwavering support for San Francisco’s public health system, carrying on the legacy of her father, Dr. Leon Goldman, Chief of Surgery.

Throughout the years, her support never wavered. In 2004, Senator Feinstein purchased one of the first Hearts in San Francisco sculptures, Migrant Heart by Hung Liu, which sits prominently today on the Lyon Street Steps.

On this day, our thoughts are with the Senator’s family during this very difficult time. She will be deeply missed, but always remembered.
