A very special heart made its way to Wine Country this summer, adorning the lawn of Lynmar Estate in the Russian River Valley.

Each year, the Hearts in San Francisco Hearts Sculptures are designed and sold to benefit the Foundation. In the summer of 2020, we asked Bay Area artists to create something beautiful amid a global pandemic. For many, art played an important role in documenting a moment in their own lives, filled with heartache, demands for change, and moments of hope.

The 2021 Hearts in San Francisco sculpture series drew on themes of justice, unity, gratitude, and a great appreciation for the City by the Bay. Raising $1.7 million in support of health access and equity at our City’s public hospital, these 22 Hearts symbolize San Francisco’s commitment to public health.

When Lynn and Anisya Fritz logged off from the first-ever virtual Hearts in SF, they felt inspired. So inspired that they made a call 20 minutes later to purchase a Heart of their own. Each year, proceeds from Heart Sculpture sales benefit vital public health programming at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and the Fritz family was thrilled to bring the Large Heart Sculpture, “Together Under the Stars” by Jen Bloomer home to their tasting room.

Jen is a local artist with a deep passion for social justice, evident in her artwork seen around the Bay Area. The Foundation first met Jen during an inspiring collaboration between ZSFG Emergency Department staff and the Paint the Void initiative, bringing beautiful art to boarded-up storefronts. So last June, 20 ZSFG medical staff filled in Jen’s heartfelt design on the windows of Zuni Cafe – spreading a message of caring for one another during hard times.

Now in its home at the Sebastapol area winery, “Together Under the Stars” is surrounded not only by acres of vines but also an expansive garden filled with bees and brightly colored blooms.
