Fundraisers and Volunteer Opportunities

Host a Donation Drive

Hosting a donation drive is an easy way for you and your friends or coworkers to help patients at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. We are a safety-net hospital serving San Francisco’s most vulnerable populations, so our patients often lack access to basic necessities such as clothing and toiletries. Donated items are greatly appreciated, and enable our staff to improve a patient’s stay and brighten their day.

 A few donation drive ideas:

  • Toiletry kits
  • Holiday greeting cards
  • Children’s books
  • Adult clothing
  • Games and art supplies

In you are interested in hosting a donation drive, please contact Alyssa Angeles at aangeles@sfghf.org for further details and guidelines.

Host a Fundraiser

We would love for you to host a fundraiser to help support patient care at Zuckerberg San Francisco General! Some fundraising ideas include happy hours, bake sales, marathons, art shows, and collecting donations in lieu of gifts at weddings or birthday parties. In order to ensure the success of your event or project, please contact Katie Morris at kmorris@sfghf.org.

Honoring Ricki's Memory

Joe Iacocca’s brother, Ricki, passed away from AIDS in 1994. Joe was at his brother’s bedside at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center’s Ward 89 when he passed. 'Everyone was so comforting and loving at The General. The kindness has left a lasting impression on me'. After nearly 17 years of grieving silently for fear of being judged, Joe decided it was time to publicly honor Ricki’s memory. By combining his passion for running with his love for his brother, Joe keeps Ricki’s spirit alive and gives back to The General. 'I’m so grateful for all that The General has done to fight HIV/AIDS and continue to close in on a cure, and for everything the staff did for my brother'. Over the last four years, running over 30 ultra-marathons, marathons and half marathons, Joe has raised not only awareness, but nearly $2,000 in support of the HIV/AIDS work taking place at The General. We are incredibly grateful for Joe’s efforts.

Volunteer

We appreciate corporations who want to organize an employee volunteer day at the hospital. Unfortunately, the opportunities for one-time group volunteer activities at the hospital are very limited. We encourage volunteer groups to consider organizing a donation drive at their office.

If you are an individual interested in becoming a long-term volunteer at the hospital, please contact the ZSFG Volunteer Program at zsfgvolunteer@sfdph.org. You can view available volunteer opportunities here.
