Heart of Our City
Capital Campaign for
San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center
On Saturday, November 21, during the Ribbon Cutting and Dedication of the new Acute Care and Trauma Center, the Foundation proudly announced the Heart of Our City Capital Campaign has raised an incredible more than $141 million, exceeding the campaign’s $135 million goal. Because of your support, the doctors, nurses, and staff at Zuckerberg San Francisco General will have state-of-the-art equipment, the most modern technology, and critical furniture and fixtures.
While the Capital Campaign officially came to a close on Thursday, December 31, we look to the future, and the responsibility to ensure that our public hospital continues to provide the very best care for all who live, work, and travel to San Francisco. Every one of us and every single donation—no matter the amount—will serve to inspire future philanthropic support to this local, national, and global health leader. We hope you will stand with us and continue to support this vital institution. Our work, in so many ways, is just beginning. Donate Now.
Every San Franciscan and Every Dollar Makes a Difference
In 2008, San Franciscans—you—overwhelmingly supported a bond to fund the San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center’s Rebuild Construction Project with an unprecedented 84% vote. Throughout this process, architects and medical staff collaboratively designed the new Acute Care and Trauma Center, creating a facility that will enhance patient experience, promote wellness and healing, and also further the education of physicians and other providers who are trained at San Francisco General.
In an outstanding demonstration of public-private partnership, San Francisco General Hospital Foundation embarked on the Heart of Our City Capital Campaign to fund the critical technology, equipment, and furnishings that the physicians, nurses, researchers, and staff need to save lives and continue to provide exceptional patient care. Providers and staff at San Francisco General expertly and compassionately answer the call 24/7 for anyone who lives, works, or travels through our City—including our community’s most vulnerable.
